Osasuna calls up 23 to host Rayo Vallecano
Forward Ante Budimir scores his 100th La Liga goal for Osasuna; forward Sergio Camello equalizes for Rayo Vallecano
Osasuna (2-2-3, 8 points) and Rayo Vallecano (2-2-3, 8 points) played to a 1-1 draw at El Sadar. Forward Ante Budimir gave the home side the lead in the first half with a spectacular goal, but forward Sergio Camello leveled for Rayo in the second half.
Osasuna started the match well, controlling the defense and creating chances on set pieces and crosses. Budimir capitalized on a loose ball in the box, scoring with a precise and powerful acrobatic shot past goalkeeper Emil Audero to make it 1-0. The Croatian forward reached 100 career goals in Spain’s top flight with the strike. Rayo Vallecano responded by controlling more possession, but Osasuna’s defense remained solid and limited Rayo’s opportunities on goal.
Rayo Vallecano quickly equalized after halftime with a goal from Camello. As the game progressed and substitutions were made—including midfielder Lucas Torró reaching his 250th appearance for Osasuna— head coach Luis Miguel Ramis’ side pushed forward and created several dangerous chances. Budimir narrowly missed with a volley, and moments later, forward Raúl García forced a save from Audero with a powerful shot. In the closing minutes, Osasuna played with 10 men after forward Raúl Moro was injured, and Raúl had another effort from the edge of the box that Audero saved.
Osasuna heads into the La Liga break for the FIFA international window with eight points. The team’s next match will be Sunday, Oct. 11, at Real Betis at La Cartuja Stadium (6:30 p.m.).
